The highest grade brake disc by DIXCEL, made from our ever advancing technology and vast experience.
The Dixcel FC Type is an 8 curve-slotted version of 6 straight-slotted FS type. DIXCEL is an official brake pads and discs supplier to international formula series such as F3 Asia or F4 UAE. In these series, all cars are equipped with DIXCEL FS discs and the young international drivers compete severely with each other relying on the performance of DIXCEL FS discs. There is a particular manufacturing process and material selection process for brake discs, just as there is for brake pads.
Since our establishment, DIXCEL has used our resources for the research & development of brake discs. For example, the Super Taikyu racing series.
- The Super Taikyu is an endurance race, which allows us to gather data from rigorous conditions of multiple hours and long distance of use.
- The Super Taikyu racing series uses production-based cars. These cars are much heavier than the purpose-built race cars, which put more strain on the brakes.
The engineers are able to gather valuable data and experience from this series. The FP/FS was developed with the need to keep benefits of a high carbon disc, and also having great initial response without sacrificing other performance areas. The unique know-how and thinking of DIXCEL is all packed into the FP/FS.
“The brake disc should also have the best brake performance”
- The FP/FS discs are both for professional users and for people who have high performance demands.
- The FP/FS is the pinnacle of DIXCEL current technology.
The performance difference between forward and reverse rotations.
The slots are effective in both forward and reverse rotations. The reverse rotation has a higher friction level compared to forward rotation. But the downside is that the pad wear rate is higher for reverse rotation compared to forward rotation. Please look at the chart below to see the comparison between forward and reverse rotations.
The data above is based on our Z type pads. This test data is from testing on the street and race circuit. The values can vary depending on the pad material. Pad wear level also depends on the usage. At DIXCEL, we evaluated each discÂ’s characteristics. To achieve a high level of friction, we recommend the following setups. For discs with 6 slots, we recommend reverse rotation. For discs with 12 slots, we recommend forward rotation.
Cutting for balancing
All DIXCEL brake discs are checked for balance to prevent vibration. Correction of the balance is done by milling/cutting out the side of brake discs. This is a method taken by car manufacturersÂ’ brake discs.
FP/FS is for the advance users who want higher brake distortion resistance and thermal crack resistance from their brake discs.
